چکیده

We aimed to describe the successful use of low doses ketamine hydrochloride with diazepam premedication sedate children ages between 3days five years who presented at three diagnostic centres in Port Harcourt Nigeria for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) within a five-year period. This was done an environment no MRI compatible anaesthetic machine and monitoring by anaesthetist suites. The average age ten months mean dose 18mg used. duration procedures 44.92 minutes constant presence required throughout monitoring. Two incidences self-limiting laryngospasm occurred safe outcome all patients. Children can be satisfactorily sedated some less than ideal situations.

Sedation of Children for Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Objective: To evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the sedation practice adopted for paediatric patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging examination in a local hospital in Hong Kong. Materials and Methods: 120 consecutive children with a mean age of 3.2 years (range, 13 days to 13 years) undergoing magnetic resonance imaging and requiring sedation were audited. The types and route...

The effect of melatonin on sedation of children undergoing magnetic resonance imaging.

BACKGROUND Melatonin may induce a natural sleepiness and improve predictability of sedation drugs. We have investigated its clinical value in children sedated for magnetic resonance imaging. METHODS In a stratified randomized double-blind study, 98 children received either melatonin or placebo 10 min before they were sedated with a standard oral regimen. Children >5 and <15 kg received chlora...
